| January | Open Vintage: In an “Open” competition month, photographers are allowed to enter their best work on any subject. This month is also a "vintage" competition, so the image can be taken at any time during the photographer's lifetime, not just within the past 12 months as for the nonvintage themes. |

| February | Landscape: Landscape: Landscape Photography is intended to show different spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Photographs typically capture the presence of nature and are often free of man-made obstructions. Landscape photographers often attempt to document the space as well as convey an appreciation of the scenery. Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |
| March | Reflections: Reflections can really make an image stand out. Reflections can show off the sheer beauty of a landscape reflected in a lake or stream, or highlight quirky or abstract objects reflected in metal, glass, etc. As long as reflections represent a major compositional element in the image, it qualifies. Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |

| May | Flowers: Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |
| June | Animals: Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |
| July | Patriotism (Vintage): This month is also a "vintage" competition, so the image can be taken at any time during the photographer's lifetime, not just within the past 12 months as for the non-vintage themes. |
| August | Open Non-Vintage: In an “Open” competition month, photographers are allowed to enter their best work on any subject. Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |

| October | Graveyards: Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |
| November | Motion/Movement: Note that this is non-vintage, so images must have been taken in the past 12 months. |
| December | No Photo Review |
| Open - No specific Theme. The image may be of any tasteful subject. | |
| Vintage - The image may have been made any time during the photographer's life, not just within the past 12 months as for the non-vintage themes. | |
